Brush Fire - Highland Township

By KVFD
November 7, 2025

At 1240 hours, the Keystone Valley Fire Department (KVFD) was dispatched to the area of Stottsville Road and Boro Line Road in Highland Township for a reported brush fire.

Multiple 911 callers and passerby reports advised that the fire was rapidly moving uphill into a wooded section of the township.

Chief 8 (Marks) arrived on location with Tac 8, confirming an active fire spreading through brush and wooded terrain. Additional resources were immediately requested. Tanker 8 arrived shortly thereafter and went into service, providing both water supply and suppression operations. Chief 8 established Old Stottsville Road Command.

Crews operated under challenging, windy conditions but worked quickly to contain the fire. The blaze was successfully stopped at the ridgeline, limiting the affected area to approximately 1.5 acres.

KVFD extends sincere thanks to all mutual-aid companies that responded. Personnel worked seamlessly together to extinguish the fire, conduct overhaul, and eliminate remaining hot spots.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the dangers posed by wind-driven fires, which can threaten both property and first responders.

Please remain vigilant when burning outdoors and always check local weather conditions and Red Flag Warnings before conducting any open burns.

Units: Chief, Tac, Tanker, Rescue, Ladder & Traffic 8 along with Ambulance 8

Mutual Aid: 27, 31, 35, 37, 44, & Lanco 52 (Stand-By), FM45, Forestry 17
