Reported Building Fire At The Dollar General Store In Parkesburg Borough

On December 3rd, 2025, at 14:55 Keystone Valley Fire Department along with mutual aid were dispatched to the 100 block of W. First Avenue in Parkesburg Borough for a reported building fire.
Keystone Valley Fire Department units and mutual aid made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported a burning smell in the store with smoke.
Ambulance 8-1 arrived to confirm the report and also confirmed a light haze in the store. Ladder 8 arrived and setup in the front of the store with their crew deploying to the roof to check the HVAC units. Rescue 31 arrived their crew checked the inside of the store with tics for a possible source. Chief 31 (McCarthy) held the command for this incident and as mutual aid units arrived, they were given their assignments.
Interior units traced the source back to a burnt-up compressor unit on a freezer. The assignment was scaled back to Keystone Valley, Sadsburyville, Christiana Fire Companies. The situation was placed under control a short time later by the commander. The property was turned back over to the store managers.
All remaining units cleared the scene at 15:43.
