May 30, 2009

This afternoon Parkesburg Volunteers were alerted to an MVC with injuries in the area of 200 N. Church Street. The Rescue, Ambulance and Chief all responded within minutes of dispatch. Chief 28 arrived onscene first and advised units there was a 2 vehicle crash with 1 confirmed injured. Upon arrival Ambulance 28 began immediate patient care and packaging. Upon arrival of the Rescue crews began hazard containment and control. Chief 28 oversaw the incident and ran command with County. Several minutes into the incident just as crews were preparing to clear other subjects involved stated they wished to be transported for evaluation. At this time Rt. 10 command requested another transport unit to the scene. Rescue 28's crews saw to the patients until arrival of EMS. After all patients were transported the incident was cleared and crews returned to station to restock the Rescue.

Minutes after clearing the first accident crews were alerted of a second crash in the 3000 Block of Limestone Rd. This crash occured on the same roadway approximately 2 miles south from the first one.
Rescue 28 and Chief 28 immediately made the response. County indidcated a possiblity of 3 injured and the accident was being reported as serious. Due to the nature ALS was automatically added to the incident. Chief 28 advised county to start at least 3 transport units to the scene due to reports. Upon arrival Rescue 28 found there to be 4 patients injured and 3 still in there vehicles. It was determined that all patients were not entangled in there vehicles. Crews once again began patient care and triage until arrival of the transport units. There were a total of 4 incoming transport units enroute to the scene. After triage and evaluation the patients were transported by priority of inuries. Fire Police also had the roadway shut down until removal of the patients and vehicles from the roadway. All units cleared the scene approximately 1 hour after arrival.
